ÒLa Dulce
Obligaci—nÓ
JosŽ Roberto
Reyes
1968-2018
Romanos 12:15
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We are gathered here today to celebrate, to
remember JosŽ Roberto Reyes, who many of knew as Beto.
Beto was born in 1968, in the city of
Torre—n, in the state of Coahuila, Mexico, and came to live here in the united
states in 1990.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
obligaci—n. Pero no me
malentiendan, es una obligaci—n dulce.
Romanos 12:14-16 Bendecid
a los que os persiguen;
bendecid, y no maldig‡is.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1) You could say that many of us are here
today out of obligation. But donÕt misunderstand me, it is a sweet obligation. The apostle Paul wrote in Romans.
Romans 12:14-16 Bless those who persecute you; bless and
do not curse. Rejoice with
those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another.
Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be
wise in your own opinion.
We have a Biblical obligation to weep with those who weep. And that is why we are here, for Mina, who is actually one
of the founders of our church, and has been with us, with her husband, JosŽ
Luis, now for more than 18 years.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
G‡latas 6:10 As’ que,
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
It is actually one of the advantages of
living in a Christian congregation, to have other people in this life, who are
committed to you.
In another place Saint Paul SaidÉ
Galatians 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do
good to all, especially to
those who are of the household of faith.
It is a burden we carry, but it is not a
bother, but rather as Christ told us, that his yoke is easy, and His burden
is light. This is not an
interruption of our lives, this is our lives.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And we give thanks for this, because in the
Christian world and life view, true obligations exist, divine obligations that
are more then mere preferences or opinions.
In our faith system, we can know with
assurance, what God desires from us, as we have learned recently in the book of
Micah.
Micah 6:8 He
has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord
require of you
But to do justly, To love
mercy,
And to walk humbly with your
God?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
It must be very sad and strange for those
who know not God, or those who embrace nothing from the holy scriptures. Because in the unbelievers worldview,
who knows if obligations actually exist or not?
If we are, as may believe, and most teach
in the government schools, that we are just accidents of evolution, the outcome
of the random collision of molecules over billions of years, then the concept
of an obligation, especially a divine obligation, would be senseless.
Ex shellfish do not have ÒshouldsÓ or ÒaughtsÓ,
rather human life is more like William Shakespeare said Òsound and fury,
signifying nothingÓ.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2) We are also here, today, because we have
an obligation to Beto. Beto, brother Beto, was baptized into
the evangelical, Christian faith in May of this year.
And whatever his past may have been, he
humbled himself in repentance, receiving the sacrament of baptism, and
thereafter was growing in his knowledge of the Lord.
I personally did not have a great deal of
contact with Beto, but I do remember when he came to our church, visiting, and
he came to the front asking for prayer.
pause
And I remember we prayed for him, I gave
him a hug, receiving him as a brother.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Deuteronomio 29:29 Las
cosas secretas pertenecen a Jehov‡
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Once again, donÕt misunderstand me, I am
not proclaiming that I know his eternal destiny. ItÕs not really may place to judge such things. For that we have a God who will judge
all.
Nor it is necessary for me, to be able to
pry into the secret counsels of the Lord.
Deuteronomy 29:29 ÒThe secret things belong to the Lord our
God, but those things which
are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the
words of this law.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
But I do give thanks that Beto, had within
his reach, access to the divine resource of forgiveness, that he could come to
God, believing the solid promise that the blood of Christ is sufficient to
cleanse us of all sin, and to fully pay the debt of those sins, however those
sins may be viewed in the eyes of the world.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hechos 22:16 Ahora,
pues, Àpor quŽ te detienes?
Lev‡ntate y baut’zate, y lava tus pecados, invocando su nombre.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Frankly, I just donÕt know, I donÕt
understand how the unbeliever, the so called atheists, and others who reject
the clear teaching of scriptures, how they can deal with their own guilt!
How can they live under the weight of their
own consciences?
How can they go on, not answering the order
that was given to Saint Paul, when he finally succumbed to Christ, and good
Ananias charged himÉ
Acts 22:16 And
now why are you waiting? Arise and be
baptized, and wash away your
sins, calling on the name of the Lord.Õ
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
G‡latas 6:10 As’ que,
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
3) Finally, perhaps someone is thinking,
ok, it is clear that Christians have an obligation, to people like Mina and
Jose Luis, esteemed members of the church since its foundation. And with Beto, who was a baptized
brother in the faith, who made his profession of faith publically, and never
renounced that faith.
But do Christians perhaps have any
obligation to those who have not come to a faith in Christ Jesus? pause
The answer is yes, and there are Biblical
reasons, as I mentioned earlier.
Galatians 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do
good to all, especially to
those who are of the household of faith.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
nuestra imagen, conforme a
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Although we have an obligation to all,
including to the unbeliever, and it is a
sweet obligation, it is not exactly the same as with those of the faith.
But in the Christian, Biblical world view,
every human being has value and every human being dignity, because he has been
created in the image of God, and this shows up in the very first chapter of the
Bible.
Genesis 1:26-27 Then God said, ÒLet Us make man in Our
image, according to
Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds
of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping
thing that creeps on the earth.Ó So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
No van a ir
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Frankly, I donÕt know what the
justification for the dignity of human beings would be for those who do not
embrace biblical truth.
Even unbelievers will often attend the funeral
of a friend or a loved one, but why?
They wonÕt go to a funeral for a cow or for a donkey. WhatÕs the difference if we are all
just rearranged pond scum after all?
But even the so-called atheist, deep down
has a knowledge of God, and knows that a human being is fundamentally different
from an animal, that has no soul.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The Darwinistic fables may flow out of his
mouths, or into what he writes in the government schools, pause, but they cannot live in agreement with them. But rather, they must carry on, trying
to eke out a little meaning, within their philosophic schizophrenia.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
pecadores no arrepentidos. Muchas
Mateo 9:10-13 Y aconteci—
sacrificio. Porque no he venido a llamar a justos, sino a pecadores, al
arrepentimiento.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Of course Christ Jesus, showed us the value
and the dignity of unrepentant sinnerd.
Many times he was accused of spending time with them.
Matthew 9:10-13 Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the
table in the house, that
behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His
disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, ÒWhy does
your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?Ó
When Jesus heard that, He
said to them, ÒThose who are well have no need of a physician, but those who
are sick. But go and learn what this means: ÔI desire mercy and not sacrifice.Õ
For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.Ó
The Pharisees where far from sinner but
Christ was close to them.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
trajo un frasco de alabastro con perfume;
As’ que, s’,
10
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And in another place.
Luke 7:37-39 And behold, a woman in the city who was a
sinner, when she knew that
Jesus sat at the table in the PhariseeÕs house, brought an alabaster flask of
fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash
His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she
kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.
Now when the Pharisee who had
invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, ÒThis Man, if He were a
prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him,
for she is a sinner.Ó
Clearly the woman was reacting in gratitude
because Christ had cleansed her soul.
So yes, we also have an obligation,
and it is a sweet obligation, even
to the unconverted, to try to rescue them, from a dreadful end.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Beto, respondi— a esa santa llamada.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
But the fact that Christ was close to
sinners, the fact that He is known as a friend of sinners, does not mean that
he approves of their corrupted lives, but rather He extended to them a holy
redemption, a call to a much better life.
And we are here today to celebrate, the
fact that Beto, brother Beto, responded to that holy calling. And if there per chance be another
person here who would like to respond to the same calling, we are at your
service, to pray with you.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
